China's seismic research community has achieved a significant milestone with the development of the AI-Driven Real-Time Earthquake Monitoring System (AIRES). After undergoing more than two years of rigorous demonstration applications, the system has successfully passed expert evaluation. The expert panel's assessment revealed that AIRES stands out with its remarkable performance indicators. Its core technologies and comprehensive capabilities have not only met but also surpassed international advanced benchmarks, showcasing robust operational feasibility and a high potential for global implementation.
What sets AIRES apart is its innovative fusion of artificial intelligence with traditional seismological methodologies. This integration enables the system to automate the entire earthquake monitoring process, from data collection to analysis, and ensures seamless compatibility with existing operational frameworks. Throughout the demonstration phase, AIRES demonstrated remarkable stability, accurately identifying earthquake events with a 95.1% correlation rate when compared to manually curated earthquake catalogs. Moreover, it achieved a 94.7% precision rate in classifying these events, marking a substantial improvement in operational efficiency and accuracy in the field of seismology.
