This Wednesday, Amazon's CEO, Andy Jassy, unveiled a significant reorganization within the company's artificial intelligence business sector. Rohit Prasad, previously at the helm of the Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) division, is set to relinquish his role by year's end. The newly formed unit will amalgamate the AGI sector, chip research and development squads, and the quantum computing segment. This consolidated entity will be spearheaded by Peter DeSantis, Amazon's Senior Vice President of Cloud Computing, who will now report directly to Jassy. Moreover, Pieter Abbeel, a co-founder of the erstwhile robotics firm Covariant, has been appointed to lead the avant-garde model research team within the AGI unit. Jassy emphasized that artificial intelligence has arrived at a pivotal juncture, and this integration is geared towards bolstering technological prowess to furnish customers with services of greater value.
