Based on the most recent survey conducted by the Harvard Youth Poll, out of 2,040 American young adults aged 18 to 29 who participated in the survey from November 3rd to 7th, a substantial 59% of respondents hold the belief that AI poses a threat to their job prospects. Specifically, 26% of them regard this threat as significant, while 33% perceive it as a relatively minor concern. On the contrary, only 23% of the respondents show no worries whatsoever regarding this matter. When compared, 48% of the participants express concerns about the impact of outsourcing on employment, and 31% are worried about how immigration might affect job opportunities. Despite these concerns, a notable 35% of respondents report that they frequently utilize AI tools like ChatGPT, and 52% are willing to place their trust in AI to aid them in their work or studies. The survey further uncovered that 41% of the respondents anticipate that AI will make work feel less meaningful, 44% are apprehensive that AI will diminish their career development prospects, and a mere 14% believe that AI has the potential to create new opportunities.
