From December 2nd to 3rd, OpenAI's AI assistant, ChatGPT, suffered back-to-back service interruptions, causing some users to be unable to access it as usual. The web version of ChatGPT was the most severely impacted, with users encountering unresponsive pages or failed loading attempts when trying to access it through browsers. In contrast, the Mac desktop client continued to function without any issues. The first service outage took place at 2:08 AM on December 2nd and was fully resolved by 3:00 AM. A second outage occurred at 3:26 AM on December 3rd, with services being completely restored by 4:12 AM. OpenAI explained that the outages were due to a routing configuration error. Approximately 3,000 users reported experiencing problems, suggesting that the impact was relatively contained.
