On November 26, the Neurosurgery Department at Tongji Hospital, affiliated with Huazhong University of Science and Technology, successfully carried out China's inaugural brain-computer interface operation, adhering strictly to the government-sanctioned medical service pricing guidelines. The recipient of this groundbreaking surgery was a 31-year-old individual suffering from high-level paraplegia as a result of a spinal cord injury. During the procedure, an implantable device manufactured by Zhonghua Brain-Computer Interface was utilized. This innovative device is capable of monitoring electroencephalogram signals emanating from the brain's regions responsible for hand movement and sensory perception. Following the surgery, the patient's condition was reported to be stable.
