On November 21, 2025, OpenAI made an official announcement regarding the worldwide launch of the ChatGPT group chat feature. This functionality is now accessible to every logged - in user, encompassing those on Free, Go, Plus, and Pro subscription plans. Prior to this, the feature had undergone a pilot phase with a select group of early testers.
To initiate a group chat, users simply need to click on the 'People' icon located within the chat interface. The group chat can accommodate up to 20 participants being online simultaneously. Moreover, users have the option to invite others to join the group chat by sharing a link.
