On the 19th, the European Commission unveiled a set of reform proposals designed to simplify and recalibrate digital and technological regulations. The primary objective is to "loosen the grip" on certain regulatory measures, notably the Artificial Intelligence Act and the General Data Protection Regulation, in a bid to bolster Europe's competitive edge.

In relation to the Artificial Intelligence Act, the European Commission has put forward a suggestion that the stipulations governing high-risk artificial intelligence systems in critical sectors like employment and law enforcement should come into force no later than 16 months past the initially planned timeline. As per the existing act, these regulations were originally slated for implementation starting August 2026.
