Two months back, the CEOs of Nvidia and OpenAI made a joint announcement, revealing that Nvidia intends to invest as much as $100 billion in OpenAI over the coming years. This investment will be channeled in as OpenAI's AI supercomputing facilities are progressively brought into operation. However, details regarding the specific timelines for construction and associated costs remain undisclosed.

In its earnings report, Nvidia highlighted that there's a substantial gap between a mere announcement and a formal contract. Consequently, it cannot offer any assurances that a definitive agreement will be inked with OpenAI or that the investment will proceed exactly as anticipated.

In addition to this, Nvidia has also disclosed a $5 billion investment in Intel for this quarter. Moreover, it has entered into an investment agreement with Anthropic, valued at up to $10 billion.

Despite the uncertainties surrounding these collaborative ventures, Nvidia maintains an optimistic outlook on its future growth prospects. At present, OpenAI boasts 800 million users and 1 million enterprise customers, coupled with impressive gross margin performance. Nevertheless, OpenAI has also struck a deal with AMD to deploy 6 gigawatts of AMD GPUs.
