Meta Platforms has earmarked more than US$1 billion for the development of a data center in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, USA, aimed at bolstering its artificial intelligence (AI) endeavors. This new facility is slated to commence operations in 2027 and is projected to create around 100 full-time jobs. Moreover, Meta will partner with local utility providers to inject US$200 million into energy infrastructure enhancements.
Meta's CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has announced that the company is set to embark on substantial investments in AI infrastructure, with plans to channel US$600 billion into the United States by 2028. These funds will be allocated towards the construction of essential hardware components, including chips and data centers. At present, Meta is actively engaged in building data centers across several states. Company executives have indicated that this strategic move is designed to proactively secure computing resources in anticipation of realizing the ambition of 'superintelligence'.
However, amidst these ambitious plans, Meta has also issued a reminder to the market about the inherent risks involved and has urged investors to exercise prudence in their investment decisions.
