On November 13th, reports emerged indicating that Microsoft (MSFT.O) is set to propel its in-house chip initiatives forward by capitalizing on OpenAI's endeavors in developing custom artificial intelligence (AI) chips. In a podcast episode, Microsoft's CEO, Nadella, responded to inquiries regarding the status of internal chip R&D. He revealed that Microsoft enjoys unrestricted access whenever OpenAI makes system-level innovations. Microsoft's strategy involves initially integrating the technologies developed by OpenAI and subsequently building upon them to achieve further advancements. Under the updated agreement between the two entities, Microsoft is guaranteed continued access to OpenAI's models through to 2032. Moreover, Microsoft is permitted to share its research outcomes until 2030, or until an expert panel confirms the attainment of artificial general intelligence (AGI).
