Although smartphones are continually enhancing their local AI capabilities, they still fall far short when compared to cloud-based AI processing. To tackle this challenge, on November 12, 2025, Google introduced a new AI processing platform called Private AI Compute. This platform is tailored specifically for the Pixel 10 and future models. It adopts a hybrid processing architecture. In this setup, when the need arises, phones can securely transfer some computational tasks to cloud servers. By harnessing the power of cloud TPUs (Tensor Processing Units), it can execute more intricate Gemini models. At the same time, to safeguard the privacy of sensitive user data during processing, the platform creates a 'hardware-secured sealed cloud environment'. This environment is so secure that not even Google can gain access to it. Moreover, it makes use of encryption and remote attestation technologies to further bolster data security. In addition, Pixel users have the option to activate network activity logs in the developer settings. This allows them to clearly see the details of platform invocations and understand precisely when their data is securely interacting with the cloud.
