On October 16, 2025, Microsoft rolled out the PowerToys v0.95 update. The newly introduced Light Switch feature was designed to facilitate automatic switching of the Windows 11 theme color mode. However, an unintended default activation led to users' systems constantly toggling between dark and light modes. A significant number of users took to the community forums to report this issue, highlighting that it consumed their valuable debugging time. Additionally, even after manually reverting the theme, PowerToys would promptly revert it back. The Microsoft PowerToys team has officially confirmed this as a bug and announced that a fix patch is currently undergoing review. To prevent automatic theme switching, affected users can open PowerToys and disable the Light Switch feature.
