As reported by 9to5mac, Apple is making significant strides in expanding the ecosystem of its AI-powered image generation tool, Image Playground. Leveraging its current integration with ChatGPT, Apple is set to incorporate a wider array of third-party AI models. This move is geared towards enhancing the tool's functionality and broadening its range of applicable scenarios. At present, Apple has successfully completed upgrades to the underlying architecture of Image Playground in the inaugural developer beta versions of macOS Tahoe 26.1, iPadOS 26.1, and iOS 26.1. These upgrades have introduced innovative features, including an 'estimated latency' indicator and provider identification functions, thereby establishing the technical foundation necessary for the seamless integration of multiple AI models.
