Recently, OpenAI has forged a collaborative partnership with Luxshare Precision, a prominent assembler of Apple's devices, with the aim of co-developing a consumer-grade device. At present, this device is in the prototype development phase and is anticipated to establish a profound synergy with OpenAI's artificial intelligence models.
In the meantime, Goertek, another contract manufacturer for Apple, is projected to be invited to supply speaker modules for OpenAI's inaugural consumer-grade hardware offering.
Since its acquisition of the artificial intelligence device startup 'io' in May 2025, OpenAI has intensified its recruitment drive, specifically targeting Apple's product and operations teams. Prior to this, OpenAI also secured the services of the former head of Meta's Orion AR glasses project to oversee pertinent operations.
Recently, Luxshare Precision has embarked on a collaborative venture with PIMIC, an edge artificial intelligence chip company based in the United States, to jointly pioneer a new generation of smart wearable products.
Simultaneously, Goertek has augmented its investment in Goertek Optics and extended a loan to Haylo for the acquisition of Plessey's equity and subsequent capital infusion. This strategic move is aimed at bolstering its development in the precision optics sector, with the expectation of driving business growth through AI smart glasses and AR products.
