Sources with in-depth knowledge of the situation have revealed that Nvidia has made a significant move in the ongoing battle for artificial intelligence expertise. The tech giant has successfully poached Rochan Sankar, the CEO of the AI hardware startup Enfabrica, along with his entire team. This high-profile acquisition came at a hefty price tag of over $900 million. In addition to securing the talents, Nvidia has also obtained a technology license from Enfabrica, further solidifying its position in the competitive AI landscape.

The deal was officially wrapped up last week, and Sankar has already transitioned to his new role at Nvidia. It's worth noting that Nvidia was not a newcomer to Enfabrica. Back in 2023, Nvidia participated in Enfabrica's Series B funding round, contributing $125 million to the startup's growth. And the momentum didn't stop there. By the end of last year, Enfabrica managed to raise an additional $115 million from a group of investors, including AMD. This latest funding round brought Enfabrica's post-funding valuation to an impressive approximately $600 million.
