On September 17, U.S. media outlets reported that Amazon has given its AI assistant for platform merchants a significant upgrade, aiming to assist them in navigating the forthcoming holiday shopping frenzy. The newly improved 'Seller Assistant' now boasts advanced demand forecasting and inventory management functions. It offers merchants tailored advice on the optimal quantity of goods to order, the most opportune times to roll out discounts and promotions during the shopping season, and the best moments to pull inventory out of Amazon's warehouses to sidestep storage fees. Dharmesh Mehta, Amazon's Vice President, revealed that the assistant's training dataset is built upon 25 years' worth of shopping behavior records. This extensive data covers a wide array of market conditions, encompassing supply chain disruptions, periods of high inflation, and elevated interest rates during the pandemic. The primary objective behind this upgrade is to empower merchants to more effectively adapt to market volatility. As Mehta put it, 'This enhancement can cut down on sellers' costs and save them valuable time.'
