The founder of Alex Codes has revealed that the company has now become part of OpenAI's Codex team. Launched in 2024, Alex Codes functions as an AI programming assistant plugin specifically designed for Apple's Xcode environment. It boasts a wide array of features, accessible through monthly subscription plans priced at $30 and $200 respectively. Following the acquisition, the dedicated Alex Codes team will persist in delivering services to its current user base. However, they will cease introducing new features and halt new user registrations effective October 1. The financial terms of the transaction and specific details remain undisclosed. Nevertheless, according to reports from foreign media, the deal adheres to an "acquisition plus employment" framework, with OpenAI placing significant emphasis on the talent resources within Alex Codes. This strategic move is anticipated to significantly enhance Codex's programming assistance capabilities on both macOS and iOS platforms.
