Elon Musk's brain-computer interface venture, Neuralink, has submitted trademark applications for the product names 'Telepathy' and 'Telekinesis'. However, these applications were initially turned down by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO). The grounds for rejection stemmed from the fact that computer scientist and co-founder of Prophetic, Wesley Berry, had already lodged pending applications for identical trademarks. In its reaction, Neuralink did not directly reference Berry's applications. Instead, it asserted that its Telepathy product is distinct enough to avoid confusion with another entity, Telepathy Labs. The USPTO is set to render a final verdict after a comprehensive review of all pertinent factors.
