In a podcast interview, Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff disclosed that the company has significantly reduced its customer support workforce by approximately 4,000 positions, replacing them with AI agents. This strategic shift has resulted in the support team's size being trimmed from 9,000 employees to roughly 5,000. Currently, Salesforce's interactions are evenly split between AI agents and human representatives, with each handling about 50% of the workload. Notably, AI agents have assumed 30% to 50% of the company's support tasks, leading to a 17% decrease in support costs.
