The latest files submitted by OpenAI and unsealed by the court during Google's antitrust case revealed the company's massive plans to take over devices, especially the iPhone, with its AI technology. This move heavily centers on ChatGPT, which was touted to be the next "super-assistant" on devices.
Instead of having to turn to ChatGPT through various channels, this grand plan by OpenAI is to bring the chatbot directly to you, making the AI experiences easily available to users to integrate into their lives.
A report by The Verge (via 9to5Mac) reveals a new document from OpenAI that was recently unsealed during the Google antitrust trial which details their plans to transform ChatGPT into a new AI experience. With this development, the company is looking to take over iPhones and other devices with a different AI-powered experience that will elevate its experiences for users.
Instead of ChatGPT being the chatbot that users seek whenever they have questions or when they're in need of help to create content, this new experience would take it to the next level.
This version of ChatGPT is personalized to users, and it will be available anywhere—from its website "chatgpt.com" to its native apps for platforms. It will also be available on the phone, email, and more.
OpenAI plans for ChatGPT to blossom as a "super-assistant," a version of the chatbot that is an intelligent entity that will help users accomplish everyday tasks as well as offer personalized or tailored features.
The company wants to bring ChatGPT closer to users and make it more integrated into a person's life, with the chatbot also appearing on third-party platforms like Siri, similar to its iOS 18 integration.
Should this ChatGPT upgrade arrive, it will give more assistance to users and offer a personalized experience, matching Siri's current role on iPhones.
Last year's iOS 18 went massive with its upgrade to integrate artificial intelligence into many aspects of the experience, essentially transforming the operating system into an AI-first platform that is fit for this modern world. The largest technology that the Cupertino-based tech giant delivered was Apple Intelligence, and it focused on a self-made language model that supercharges the iOS experience.
However, Apple did not stop there as the already-existing AI on its platform, the voice assistant Siri, has also received its fair share of upgrades via iOS 18, particularly with the ChatGPT integration. Users may enjoy the best of both worlds and more with Siri's upgrade, particularly as it leverages different models and tools to help users with their needs, especially as ChatGPT is here to bolster the features.
It was revealed that OpenAI did not get paid or strike any monetary deals with Apple to bring ChatGPT over to Siri with this direct experience, and it focused on making the technology more accessible to iOS users.
