On May 7th, news emerged that Apple has instructed its suppliers to substantially boost the production target for the 2026 MacBook Neo laptops. Originally set at 5 to 6 million units, the target has now been elevated to 10 million units, in a bid to ease market supply shortages. To accomplish this, Apple will be compelled to offer a significant premium to TSMC in order to secure an adequate supply of A18 Pro chips. Moreover, the company will also face the necessity of paying higher prices for the in-demand DRAM chips, a move that will inevitably escalate the material costs associated with the MacBook Neo.
