In this report, WSTS substantially raised its growth projections for the global semiconductor industry in both 2026 and 2027. The report highlights that, propelled by a robust market performance from late 2025 to early 2026, the global semiconductor market is anticipated to expand by 90% year-on-year in 2026, reaching a staggering US$1.51 trillion. Among various segments, the memory chip sector is poised to be the primary growth engine. Sales in this sector are expected to soar by approximately 250% year-on-year in 2026, exceeding US$800 billion. The persistent demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure, high-bandwidth memory (HBM), and accelerated computing platforms continues to serve as the cornerstone driving the semiconductor industry's growth. These technologies are integral to the development of advanced computing systems, and their increasing adoption across various sectors is fueling the surge in semiconductor sales.
