OpenAI plans to have third-party organizations assess safety risks in the early stages of AI model development to address concerns about the potential harms of AI. The developer of ChatGPT will announce in a blog post on Tuesday that it will bring in external organizations to conduct technical safety assessments during the training, evaluation, and rollout processes of new AI models. OpenAI has also outlined priorities for effectively conducting such assessments, including robust independent mechanisms, scientific rigor, sound safety practices, and clear accountability.
