On September 23th, Anthropic introduced a new artificial intelligence model designed to handle a variety of business tasks at a lower cost, maintaining its competitive edge ahead of its Wall Street debut. On Tuesday, the company released the Claude Opus 5.5 model, which performs comparably to Anthropic's more powerful Fable 5.1 in most work scenarios but at a significantly lower cost than the previous Opus 5 version. Anthropic stated that the new model offers faster output speeds and clearer generated content. Over the coming weeks, the company plans to continue expanding the 5.5 series models with new versions of Claude Sonnet and Haiku.
