BMW (China) Automobile Trading Co., Ltd. and Brilliance BMW Automobile Co., Ltd. have jointly announced a recall initiative encompassing a diverse range of models, including imported 5 Series, X5, i4, i5, i7, and iX vehicles, as well as domestically produced i3, i5, iX1, and iX3 models, amounting to over 120,000 units in total. The rationale behind this recall stems from the discovery that the starter generator power connectors in these vehicles were manufactured to specifications that fell below the required standards. This issue could potentially result in vehicle stalling or, in severe cases, the outbreak of fire. Furthermore, an insulation fault monitoring mechanism defect has been identified, which might lead to power disruptions, thereby escalating the risk of accidents. To address these concerns, BMW will offer free inspections, component replacements, and software upgrades to all affected vehicles, ensuring the elimination of any potential safety hazards.
