A report by Japan's Kyodo News Agency reveals that, due to the impact of the United States' auto tariff policy, Japan's leading automakers, encompassing Toyota and Honda among others, anticipate a collective drop of roughly 2.67 trillion yen (approximately 130.2 billion yuan) in operating profits for the fiscal year 2025, spanning from April 2025 to March 2026. This projected reduction amounts to over 30% of the combined operating profits these seven automakers reported in the preceding fiscal year. In response, the companies are devising strategies to mitigate the effects, including cost-cutting measures and adjustments to their export strategies.
