Recently, Li Auto unveiled a safety assessment video showcasing its Li ONE i8 SUV in a collision with a truck. In this gripping footage, the over 2-ton Li ONE i8 SUV managed to lift an 8-ton heavy truck off the ground on all four wheels, igniting intense online debates. The truck manufacturer, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor, has raised questions about the scientific validity of the test and the potential infringement depicted in the video. Li Auto clarified that the test was conducted by the reputable third-party authority, China Automotive Technology & Research Center (CATARC), with the sole purpose of verifying the passive safety performance of the i8, and not to target any other brands. CATARC further affirmed that the test adhered to all relevant regulations.
