On August 4, Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer VinFast celebrated the grand opening of its electric vehicle assembly plant located in the SIPCOT Industrial Park in Tamil Nadu, India. This marks VinFast's fifth global project, its third operational production base, and its maiden overseas factory. Upon reaching full production capacity, the plant is anticipated to generate between 3,000 and 3,500 direct jobs, alongside thousands of indirect employment opportunities locally. Initially, the facility will focus on assembling two electric SUVs, the VF 7 and VF 6, with an initial annual production capacity of 50,000 vehicles. This capacity can be scaled up to 150,000 units in the future to cater to evolving market demands.
