On the evening of August 3, the China Automotive Technology & Research Center issued a statement clarifying that its head-on collision test involving the Li Xiang i8 was designed exclusively to assess the vehicle's safety performance. This test was not intended as a standard vehicle-to-vehicle collision test nor did it involve comparisons with other brands. The test was conducted based on a scenario outline tailored to typical traffic accidents in China and executed by the expert team at the China Automotive Technology & Research Center.
