Shanghai has recently granted Intelligent Connected Vehicle Demonstration Operation Certificates to eight enterprises. Among these, Pony.ai has secured the certificate and announced the public launch of its driverless Robotaxi service starting August 1. The service, which features a starting fare of 14 yuan, operates from 7:30 to 21:30 on weekdays, initially focusing on Pudong New Area. The system boasts predictive capabilities, capable of identifying pedestrians' intentions and responding proactively, thereby enhancing both ride safety and efficiency. Given the limited fleet in the initial phase, passengers may experience longer wait times during peak hours or in popular areas. Pony.ai has assured that it will gradually expand its fleet to enhance the overall user experience.
