On July 29th, during the unveiling of the Li Xiang i8, a safety evaluation video was presented which demonstrated the over 2-ton Li Xiang i8 surpassing an 8-ton truck in a crash test. The video, which showed the truck's cab being displaced, sparked intense debate among online users. The collision, which occurred at a relative speed of 100 km/h, resulted in the truck's rear wheels lifting off the ground and its cab flipping over. Chenglong Truck's official response stated that such an outcome was implausible and accused the video of being misleading. Li Xiang Auto, on the other hand, emphasized that the testing was conducted entirely by a third-party institution and suggested a retest to resolve the controversy.
