On July 26, the "Model-Speed Smart Drive" Action Plan for Shanghai's High-Level Autonomous Driving Hub was unveiled at the AI-Empowered Autonomous Driving Innovation and Development Forum. This ambitious plan envisions Shanghai becoming a globally leading hub for high-level autonomous driving by 2027, fostering an internationally competitive intelligent connected vehicle industry cluster. The plan comprises three core strategies:
- Application Scenarios: Exploring innovative business models and deploying L4 autonomous driving technology on a large scale in taxis, heavy trucks, buses, and other sectors, aiming for 6 million passenger trips and 800,000 container transports.
- Innovation Elements: Establishing multiple public service platforms, including digital twin training grounds, across a 2,000-square-kilometer area and over 5,000 kilometers of roads to facilitate cross-domain connectivity.
- Industrial Upgrading: Cultivating large-scale autonomous driving model capabilities at industry-leading standards, ensuring that L2 and L3 models account for over 90% of automotive production and achieving mass production of L4 models.
