Tesla had initially aimed to manufacture 5,000 Optimus robots this year; however, eight months into the year, production has only yielded hundreds of units. Amid a 12% decline in second-quarter revenue, Elon Musk announced that the Optimus 3 version will be introduced at the start of next year, with an ambitious target of achieving an annual production of one million units within the next five years. Nonetheless, Musk has a history of setting unfulfilled mass production goals, such as the Robotaxi plan in 2020, which promised mass production by 2024 but has yet to materialize.
