The Online Ride-Hailing Branch of the China Urban Public Transport Association initially announced that, beginning July 20, Beijing would prohibit fuel vehicles from operating on online ride-hailing platforms. Subsequently, the branch deleted this announcement, citing concerns regarding the source and verification of the information. It is known that Beijing had previously required the phase-out of fuel vehicles that do not meet the National VI emission standards. If the reported policy had been accurate, it would have significantly accelerated the transition towards electric vehicles within the online ride-hailing industry. However, given the deletion of the announcement and the uncertainty surrounding its source, the question of whether fuel vehicles in Beijing will indeed be banned from online ride-hailing platforms remains unanswered and awaits official confirmation.
