On July 17, the Chongqing Municipal Economic and Information Commission unveiled the "Work Plan for the Recycling Industry of New Energy Vehicle Power Batteries in Chongqing (2025-2027)." This blueprint outlines an ambitious goal: by 2027, Chongqing aims to establish and refine its power battery recycling industrial framework, enhance its industrial ecosystem, and emerge as a pioneering recycling hub for power batteries in Western China. The plan envisions a comprehensive recycling network that spans 90% of the city's districts and counties, fostering a cadre of industry-compliant recycling enterprises and establishing at least two recycling industrial bases.

Furthermore, the plan emphasizes the continuous improvement of metal resource recycling rates, including lithium, cobalt, nickel, and manganese, and the pursuit of innovative breakthroughs in the precise extraction of components and valuable metals from discarded power batteries. Key technologies, such as intelligent and precise battery disassembly, as well as wet full-component recycling, will be widely promoted and applied to further bolster the city's recycling capabilities.
