July 16, news: The German Federal Motor Transport Authority (KBA) announced on Wednesday that electric car sales in Germany have soared to a record high in the first half of this year, accounting for nearly one-fifth of all new car registrations. Despite a decline in overall car sales across Europe, electric car sales have witnessed a remarkable surge, with Germany emerging as one of the fastest-growing markets. According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, this trend is largely due to the EU's new emission targets and the introduction of affordable electric car models. Specifically, in the first six months of 2023, electric car sales in Germany reached 248,726 units, marking a 35% increase compared to the same period last year, thus breaking previous records. The KBA highlighted that electric cars constituted 17.7% of new car registrations in the first half of the year, signifying a sustained rise in demand for electric vehicles. After years of gradual growth, the electric car market is now entering a phase of rapid expansion.
