Stellantis, the world's fourth-largest automaker, announced on Wednesday that it is discontinuing its hydrogen fuel cell technology development project and scrapping plans to introduce hydrogen-powered vehicles. This decision stems from the anticipated challenges in achieving widespread adoption of hydrogen-powered light commercial vehicles by the end of this decade, coupled with the limited availability of hydrogen fuel infrastructure and significant capital expenditure requirements. Importantly, the decision will not impact employees at production sites, and related R&D resources will be reallocated accordingly.
