During his visit to Xinqiao Plant II, Li Bin, CEO of NIO, highlighted that while advocating for larger batteries in the automotive sector undeniably enhances the driving range of electric vehicles, it simultaneously introduces significant challenges including safety hazards, road damage, and higher taxes. He stressed the importance for automakers to consider the overall life cycle cost of their vehicles, asserting that merely increasing battery size is not the most effective approach, and that the practical benefits of a 150kWh battery pack are relatively limited. This perspective echoes those of other automakers who have previously voiced concerns that excessively heavy batteries impede the sustainable development of the industry.
