On July 2, BYD celebrated a milestone with the inaugural rollout of a passenger vehicle from its plant in Camacari, Bahia, Brazil. Nestled within the bustling Salvador metropolitan area, this plant forms part of a sprawling production hub that BYD announced its investment and construction of in July 2023, with a total commitment of 5.5 billion Brazilian reais (roughly equivalent to 7.1 billion Chinese yuan). Comprising three factories, the complex boasts a dedicated new energy vehicle production line tailored for manufacturing both pure electric and plug-in hybrid models, with an ambitious annual production capacity of 150,000 vehicles.
