According to Cui Dongshu, Secretary-General of the China Passenger Car Association, global car sales reached 7.74 million units in May 2025, marking a 3% increase from the previous year. Of these sales, China contributed 2.686 million cars, representing 34.7% of the global total. This statistic translates to approximately one out of every three cars sold worldwide originating from China. Compared to the previous year, China's share of the global car sales market has expanded by 2.7 percentage points. In the first five months of 2025, China accounted for 34% of global car sales, demonstrating its significant influence on the automotive industry.
