On June 27, BYD commenced the groundbreaking ceremony for the expansion of its electric bus and truck factory in Komárom, Hungary. This ambitious project is set to establish a facility with an annual production capacity of 1,250 electric buses and trucks, anticipated to generate 620 new jobs. BYD's presence in Hungary dates back to 2005, and in 2016, the company established an electric bus factory in Komárom. Toward the end of 2023, BYD announced the construction of its first European new energy passenger vehicle base in Szeged, Hungary, and outlined plans to establish its European headquarters and R&D center in Budapest by May 2025.
