On June 25, the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association unveiled data revealing a stark divergence in the EU auto market as of May 2025. Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) secured a market share of just 15.4%, whereas Hybrid Vehicles (encompassing HEVs and PHEVs) dominated with a commanding 43.3% share. In terms of country-specific trends, Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands emerged as leaders in the BEV market growth, while France witnessed a decline. Conversely, hybrid models experienced growth across multiple nations. Furthermore, year-on-year comparisons for May indicated a robust 25% increase in BEV sales, a modest 16% rise in HEVs, and a substantial 46.9% surge in PHEVs.
