On June 22, local time, Tesla launched a pioneering Robotaxi service in Austin, Texas, USA. The initial fleet comprises approximately 10 to 20 Model Y-based autonomous taxis, with priority access granted to investors and social media influencers. Each ride is priced at a flat rate of $30. The service operates daily from 6 a.m. to midnight and is confined to specific regions in south-central Austin. Each Robotaxi is equipped with a safety monitor who can intervene as needed via emergency stop buttons and other controls. Additionally, the vehicles are fitted with biosensors to guarantee passenger safety. The trial service is invitation-only, and reservations can be made through Tesla's exclusive app. For privacy protection, the vehicle's cameras and microphones are deactivated by default.
