Amazon has recently unveiled its autonomous taxi initiative, setting a target to manufacture 10,000 autonomous taxis per annum through Zoox, its autonomous vehicle subsidiary, at a new factory located near Silicon Valley. This strategic move signifies Amazon's formal foray into the autonomous driving arena, with ambitions to challenge Waymo's current market leadership. The expansive 220,000-square-foot facility will encompass the entire production spectrum, encompassing engineering, software integration, final assembly, and rigorous quality testing. Zoox intends to launch commercial services in Las Vegas later this year, with plans to gradually extend its reach to additional cities.
