At the 2025 China Auto Chongqing Forum, leaders in the automotive industry delved into contentious debates over the perpetual price wars and public opinion skirmishes plaguing the current market landscape. Zhu Huarong, Chairman of Changan Automobile, among others, voiced opposition to relentless competitive pricing and urged the sector to revert to a trajectory of sustainable growth. Wang Xia, President of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade Automotive Industry Committee, revealed that in 2024, over 200 domestic auto models witnessed price reductions, with this figure surpassing 60 in the first four months of 2025 alone. This price war has pushed industry profits to perilously low levels, hovering below 4%.

Experts cautioned that relentless price wars and unfocused technological rivalry are detrimental to both enterprises and consumers alike. They emphasized the importance of adhering to stringent quality and safety standards, upholding business ethics, and adopting a long-term perspective. Additionally, the forum delved into topics such as automotive intelligence and safety, highlighting that mergers and acquisitions will increasingly become a defining trend in the industry's evolution.
