On June 6, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced that Mazda is recalling a total of 171,412 Mazda3 and CX-30 models from the 2024 and 2025 production years in the United States. The recall is necessitated by a concern that low battery power could trigger an error code in the Supplemental Restraint System (SRS) sensor unit, potentially leading to the failure of airbags to deploy in the event of a collision. Mazda dealers will reprogram or replace the enhanced SRS unit for affected vehicles at no cost to the owners.
