According to data released by Wards Intelligence on June 3, sales of light vehicles in the United States plummeted by approximately 1.6 million units to 15.65 million units in May, marking the most significant decline since April 2020. In comparison, sales in March stood at 17.83 million units. Analysts highlighted that the 25% tariff on imported vehicles imposed by the United States on April 3 incentivized consumers to make advance purchases, contributing to the subsequent drop in sales observed in May.
