German newspaper Handelsblatt reported on the 27th that BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen are engaged in negotiations with the US Department of Commerce over a tariff agreement, seeking tariff exemptions in exchange for increased investments in the United States. Under the proposed plan, these three major automakers aim to secure exemption from tariffs on vehicles exported to the US by expanding their investments in the country, although the exact investment figures have yet to be disclosed. The automakers aspire to finalize the agreement by June. To date, Volkswagen, Mercedes-Benz, and BMW have all declined to comment on the negotiations with the US government.
