CPCA: Chinese Retail Market Sees 1.358 Million Passenger Vehicle Sales from May 1st to 25th, Up 16% Year-on-Year

According to the latest figures released by the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA), passenger vehicle retail sales in China soared to 1.358 million units from May 1st to 25th, marking a 16% increase year-on-year and a 9% rise month-on-month. Cumulatively, from the start of the year to date, retail sales have hit 8.23 million units, reflecting a 9% growth compared to the same period last year.

During this same period, new energy passenger vehicles (NEVs) witnessed robust sales, totaling 726,000 units. This represents a year-on-year surge of 31% and a monthly increase of 11%, with a market penetration rate of 53.5%. From the beginning of the year to date, cumulative retail sales of NEVs have reached 4.05 million units, indicating a year-on-year growth of 35%.
