The issue of "zero-mileage used cars," brought to light by Wei Jianjun, Chairman of Great Wall Motors, has garnered significant attention. In response, the Department of Consumption Promotion within the Ministry of Commerce has convened a meeting involving automakers, industry associations, and related institutions to delve into this matter and explore ways to bolster the circulation and consumption of used cars. The core focus of the meeting centered on establishing guidelines for the export of used cars and implementing market regulations. Recent trends reveal that under pressure from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) to boost sales, dealerships have resorted to selling new cars at discounted prices to meet targets, subsequently registering these vehicles as used cars despite minimal mileage. Additionally, some of these zero-mileage used cars are being exported through parallel channels to offload inventory and achieve higher profit margins.
